Chapter I
Return
Shokar and Kiran stepped out onto Firia. It hurt Shokar to return here, but he knew he needed to in order to recover himself.
“Where are we?” Kiran asked in wonder.
“My home world, Firia.” Shokar responded as he set off down the trail that led to the jungle floor of Firia's noble lands with Kiran trailing after...
Shokar walked into the center of a small village. This village supposedly housed a survivor of the Judgment, better known to Shokar as his sin.
A man was working in the forge, presumably the blacksmith, the fires were bright and hot. The blacksmith looked up from his forge to let his eyes rest from the bright fires. His eyes widened when he saw Shokar and he tried to run for it.
“Wols Emit!” Kiran yelled out putting his palm forward. Time almost came to a complete stop around him, only Kiran remained at the same speed. Kiran ran forward and stood in front of the blacksmith. The spell ran out and the blacksmith ran into Kiran and fell to the ground. “My friend would have a word with you.” he said calmly, smiling as he extended a hand to help the man up.
“He's the killer! He's come back to finish me!” the man cried out in horror as he tried to get up and run, Kiran held him back easily. The man suddenly burst into flames, searing Kiran.
“Aye!” Kiran cried out as he leaped back from the Firion, or half Firion. For the man changed back almost instantly with first and second degree burns. “What? Shokar, I thought all the people on this planet were Firion.”
“They're not, the Firion nobles make themselves seem to be gods in order to reign over the humans here. Sometimes, a hot headed prince decides to rape a human female, and then you get a half Firion, they either can resist fire or, like this man, make it.” Shokar explained as he walked towards the man.
“Get back! Stay away!” the man cried out, flinging his arms over his head and whimpering. “Don't kill me!”
“I'm not going to kill anyone. I didn't mean to in the first place. I wish to make amends for my sin against you and everyone I harmed.” Shokar said calmly, almost nobly. “I wish only to help you, but you need to help me first.”
“Why should I help the one who tried to kill us all?” the man sneered.
“Because, it is in your best interest, and I need your help because I need to know more about my father, I need to know who I was, and if I have risen from that rank.” Shokar said, his blue eyes shining. “I need to know my family's past, and from I have heard, you are the only one that knows who is still alive.”
“Very well, your father, Kar, was a rich man, a noble who had almost as much influence as the emperor. Kar's name meant judge.” the man began his lecture. “You were named for him, you were to follow in his footsteps, and ,eventually, become emperor. Then tragedy descended. There was a war with the Hydrosians, your uncle, Rakor, was persuaded by them that if he killed your father he could become one of them. So, he killed your father in front of you, but there was something he hadn't counted on. You were endowed with a special power when you were born. He thought that he could control water and tried, but he couldn't. So, in rage he turned back to his fire. Now, his name is Rakor for a reason, it means freezing burns, and that's the type of fire he controlled, cold fire. He tried to freeze you to death but you proved too powerful, you had been endowed with the flames of Judgment. You burned him badly and killed most of the people in the village. I am one of three survivors, the other two died of natural causes, disease and old age. That's all I can tell you. Except for that you're engaged to the emperor's daughter, and she is absolutely stunning.”
Shokar nodded his appreciation, “now, I must uphold my end of the bargain. What can I do for you?” he asked the man kindly.
“Well, there's this monster that's been attacking us recently. The damn bandit doesn't know when to stop. If you could get rid of him, then never return here again.” the man said coldly.
Shokar nodded then turned away and began to walk...
Kiran trotted beside Shokar, “so, how are we going to find him?” he asked.
“We don't. Oh my pack is so heavy from all the gold in it!” Shokar exclaimed.
“What? We're poor... oh yeah, my pack is heavy from all the gold too!” Kiran joined in...
A man stood in the woods, he saw two figures walk down the dirt path. It appeared they were both warriors and he knew they had no money from the looks of them, but he could sell their equipment for a good price. He gripped his sword in his hand and leaped at them, then everything went horribly wrong...
Shokar heard movement in the trees and spun to see a man baring down on them with a sword raised. Shokar lifted his hand, palm facing the man, and fire spun around it. “Die, fool bandit.” he said darkly.
Fire leaped from Shokar's palm and surrounded the bandit. The bandit screamed in pain as he was burned alive.
Kiran lifted his crossbow and leveled it at the bandit's throat. “Mercy.” he spoke the one word as he pulled the trigger and sent a bolt through the bandit...
Chapter II
Emperor's Daughter
“Wow, Shokar. Did you ever even know you were engaged to the emperor's daughter?” Kiran asked, having remembered what the blacksmith had said about Shokar's past.
“No, but I do remember something about a really pretty girl visiting sometime before my father's death. That might be her.” Shokar responded.
